Abstract

Under the premise of the biological relationship that the writer maintained with her literature, the influence that Marta Sánchez Martín had on her mother's work is investigated in this space. To this end, we study three foundational moments in Carmen Martín Gaite's literature in which Marta was an architect and/or participant. Firstly, when Marta gives her her first Cuaderno de todo; secondly, a walk they both take where Carmen Martín Gaite senses that her daughter may become the interlocutor she so longs for; and finally, the story she writes during her stay at Vassar College after Marta's death.
