Abstract

This work centers on the examination of La Reina de las Nieves, novel published in 1994. It specifically delves into the protagonist Leonardo’s internal journey, his family relationships, and his memory, highlighting how literature plays a crucial role in their transfiguration and the search for meaning. Consequently, the allusions to Andersen’s fairy tale, alongside citations from other literary works by various authors, serve a dual purpose: they become a quest through which the protagonist recognizes his identity thanks to literature, and they facilitate the identification of symbols and a deeper reflection on the universal human condition, both as bios and zoe, which current studies in biopoetics and ecocriticism can illuminate.
