Abstract

In Carmen Martín Gaite, life and literature merge, as in so many other authors who imbued their writing with authenticity and commitment to their surroundings, their experiences, and ultimately, their way of being and thinking. These two dimensions cannot be easily separated. Accepting this limitation as a premise, the volume now presented in the Boletín de la Biblioteca de Menéndez Pelayo, on the centenary of her birth, brings together approaches that consider the diverse facets of this author from multiple angles, with the aim of unraveling the enigmas of her creativity, which is itself key to a lasting legacy that, defying the passage of time, returns her to the contemporary reader, alive and relevant
