Abstract

Currently, Spanish fiction (both film and novels) is once again showing a tendency towards rural themes and settings, following the trend of what is usually called ‘neo-ruralism’. These are new manifestations of an old thread that has run through our arts since at least the Romantic period (‘costumbrismo’, ‘casticismo’, etc.). In this contribution we want to present the German antecedents of this interest in a living nature connected to the human being, in rural environments and even in an avant la lettre ecological thinking, taking the german romantic artist's tales as outstanding literary
