Abstract

Juan Bautista Avalle-Arce studied outside of Spain from his youth, always in contact with English, but without losing interest in the history and literature of his native country. Specifically, he studied Cervantes' Quixote and wrote essays about it. This necrology describes his life and professional career and highlights the importance of this Spanish author.
