This obituary pays tribute to the figure of Rinaldo Froldi, who died in 2011 in Italy. This Hispanist (Milan, 1924) was professor at the University of Bologna from 1968 to 1997, professor emeritus in 1998, and one of the most prestigious figures of Italian Hispanism.
