Abstract

This obituary pays tribute to the figure of Rinaldo Froldi, who died in 2011 in Italy. This Hispanist (Milan, 1924) was professor at the University of Bologna from 1968 to 1997, professor emeritus in 1998, and one of the most prestigious figures of Italian Hispanism. He was a scholar of Spanish literature and culture. Among his studies on the Spanish theater of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries highlights a book that was published first in Italian, Il teatro valenzano e l'origine della commedia barocca (1961) and then in Spanish, with different title and renewed text: Lope de Vega and the formation of comedy (1968).
