Abstract

This obituary offers a tribute to Nigel Glendinning, Professor of Hispanic Philology since 1974. He showed an early interest in poetry, fascinated by its sonority and rhythms, in addition to the cultural contexts that endowed it with meaning. Nigel Glendinning’s major projects often alternated between subjects of art and those of literary culture, and his production of scholarly articles in both fields was an endeavor in which he never tired. It is considered to have belonged to a generation of eighteenth-century Spanish literature specialists who became masters for later promotions.
