This article comments on the work of Professor Raquel Gutiérrez Sebastián, who published a book exclusively on the Peredian novel El sabor de la tierruca. In the work of the teacher, the subgenre of the Spanish rural novel is pointed out as a relevant aspect, as opposed to the works that paint the urban landscape, such as others by Pereda himself or Benito Pérez Galdós. Each chapter is dedicated to various points: characters, landscape, narrative structure, illustrations, etc., which outline Pereda's mastery in capturing the rural world of his time, a theme, like so many others, that is always universal and timeless.
