Abstract

The review focuses on the work of Paul Michael Jackson on the playwright Luis Vélez de Guevara. The edition of his comedy Celos, amor y venganza provides relevant data for the understanding of the work through the analysis of the structure, the characters and the staging. In addition, it has a bibliometric analysis that reveals the style and linguistics of the play. The title and what it has to do with the main plot are also discussed, since no aspect is left untreated. Something remarkable about the edition is the resolution of the contrast between the old and the modern, in terms of readers and their perspective. Notes and clear narration allow any reader to understand the text and learn about it.
