Abstract

The article deals with the figures of Gómez de Baquero and Menéndez Pelayo, as well as the opinions of the former about the work of the Cantabrian polygraph. Baquero was a critic who collaborated in newspapers such as La Época, El Imparcial, La Vanguardia, El Sol and La Voz and La España Moderna. As for the works of Menéndez Pelayo, Gómez de Baquero referred to him as "prince of Spanish scholarship" and showed his recognition of the author’s extensive work and his critical work.
