This obituary pays tribute to Ricardo Senabre Sempere born in Alcoy in 1937. He was Spanish Language Attaché (1970), Professor of Historical Grammar at the University of Granada (1971), Director of the University College of Caceres (1971), Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the newly created University of Extremadura. He received numerous awards and recognitions. In the literary field he studied authors such as Jorge Manrique, Blas de Otero, Quevedo, Cela, Ferando Aramburu, Feijoo, Larra and Clarín. He was also a literary critic and, as a literary theorist, he dealt with reception and literary communication. Senabre wrote with great clarity and extraordinary precision, with calm wording and pleasant prose within his deliberate sobriety.
