Abstract

This article is focused on a Cuban Identity approach as the main topic in Lo cubano en la poesía, an essay written in 1958 by Cintio Vitier and De donde son los cantantes, a novel written in 1967 by Severo Sarduy. Sarduy uses the parody in order to desmitify this essay and includes interesting ideas by José Martí, Lezama Lima or María Zambrano. My reading deeps into essential and particular aspects in Cuban being because both authors, Sarduy and Vitier, study these topics in their texts.
