Abstract

Toni Dorca focuses on the idyll as an element inserted in the Spanish realist novel and breaks down its consequences in the narratives where it is included. He explains what the chronotope is and how it affects the characters, he talks about the hero's return home and the fatal consequences of the destruction of the idyll. It gives six concrete examples of Spanish novels of the 19th century, by renowned authors such as José María de Pereda, Emilia Pardo Bazán, Benito Pérez Galdós, Fernán Caballero, Juan Valera and Narcís Oller, and analyzes each of the selected works with precision and great success
