The importance of the volume on metaliterature coordinated by Antonio J. Gil González lies in being a pioneer in Hispanic culture. In the first part of this edition, through articles, it is proposed to explain the concepts of metafiction, metalanguage and reflexivity, among others, to account for their weight and presence in Hispanic literature, already present in Don Quixote in an undoubted way. In the second part of the book, the theories are specified in specific texts and are analyzed in detail and, as a culmination, the concepts of metafictionality and self-referentiality in other artistic expressions are integrated.
