Abstract

This review comments on the first two series of the Galdosian Episodios nacionales (National Episodes) from an edition of Destino made up of five series in total; each book contains ten national episodes. The goal of its editor, Dolores Troncoso, is to refine Galdós's texts to make them more consistent with the author's original intention. For these volumes, the versions by Galdós have been taken into account and some fragments that he himself discarded are included in the Appendix. This edition is a reconstruction of previous ones to improve the quality and quantity of the novels, which are preceded by a historical context and a bibliography.
