Abstract

This document presents two fundamental figures who studied and wrote about the black legend: Sverker Arnoldsson and Ronald Hilton. The Hispanist Arnoldsson published an essay in 1960, considered the first thorough and precise research on the origins of the Spanish Black Legend. Ronald Hilton’s essay was written in French and published in 2002. The texts focus attention on the understanding of the prevalent Negrolegendario issues of the eighteenth century since the objectivity and Hispanophilia that characterized it. An analysis of the mechanisms of the Hispanophobia of encyclopedias, travelers, geographers, naturalists and diplomats is carried out.
