Paris, capitale littéraire de l'Amérique latine is a book by Jean-Claude Villegas that analyzes the influences of France on Latin American culture over time and the international relations between the two places. His work does not focus on literary aspects, but rather on sociology in relation to literature and the development of the countries mentioned, so geopolitics comes into play. Villegas's book is divided into three parts dealing with the relations of Latin America with the rest of the world and, specifically, with Paris and France, with respect to culture and art. In each section a specialized theme is addressed, always connected with the history, sociology, printing and worldview of the two continents, even questioning why Paris is a literary reference for America.
