This review comments on the book by Santiago Díaz Lage that deals with nineteenth-century Spanish journalism, focusing on unknown aspects and on some authors who dedicated themselves to both the press and fiction. Several writers started with criticism and political press. Four great authors are mentioned who will be discussed in the book and the review: José María de Pereda, Fernando Martínez Pedrosa, Ángel Fernández de los Ríos and Eusebio Blasco. The journalistic trajectory of each one of them is summarized to then go on to talk about the historical context and to highlight various relevant writers of the time. Later on, he focuses on novelists, such as Clarín, who also participated in the press.
