Abstract

This obituary pays tribute to the author María de los Ángeles Ayala Aracil. Ayala studied the characteristics of a wide literary production (the costumbrismo of the second half of the 19th century), and was also a member of the Galdosian Studies Group (GREGAL). She showed interest in literature written by women to give them the place they deserve in the collective memory. Ayala loved literature, its history, its criticism and its teaching and remained in it until the last day.
