Abstract

This obituary pays tribute to Alberto Blecua, who died in January 2020. He studied at the Goya Institute in his native city and graduated in Romance Philology from the University of Barcelona. He was professor of institute by opposition before joining the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1971. He received his doctorate in 1974 and in 1979 he was assigned to an aggregation, the previous step to the chair, in which he remained until his retirement in 2012. He highlighted his work of textual criticism and philology displayed in his editions of the Book of Good Love, the Lazarillo, Las seiscientas apotegmas de Juan Rufo y el Quijote. Finally, the constitution of PROLOPE is one of its greatest achievements.
