This obituary pays tribute to Robert Jammes, who died in 2020. He was a Hispanist who showed interest in the figure of Góngora, to whom he dedicated numerous articles and to whom he analyzed in his doctoral thesis. He was the founder of the magazine Criticón and directed it for many years.
