Traveling through Spain through the pages of the Nuevo Teatro Crítico

In 1891, Emilia Pardo Bazán published several travel chronicles in her magazine Nuevo Teatro Crítico. These are collected, later, in the volume Por la España pintoresca (1896). In this study, we analyze these texts showing the interest of the writer to integrate the literary canon of this subgenre. Her theorization on this type of literature does not go unnoticed. Another fundamental aspect is her interest in travelling the Spanish territory in pursuit of finding the traits of the national spirit.
