The document proposes three biographies of Galdós from different authors. The first is Benito Pérez Galdós. Vida, obra y compromiso, written by the historian Francisco Cánovas. This biography is articulated around three axes: the insertion of the life of Galdós in the historical and cultural coordinates of his time, the relevance of his work and the civic and democratic commitment of the author. The second biography is entitled Galdós. Una biografía by Yolanda Arencibia, in which she delves into the news of the writer’s private life, and relies on extensive epistolary documentation. Finally, Galdós, maestro de las letras modernas, by Germán Gullón, is the last biography. An approach to the intellectual and personal context in which the personal identity of the author was formed, the books and teachers that influenced him, the important readings or the vital circumstances that marked his life.
