Writer and founder of the Grup 62 publishing house, Josep Maria Castellet is remembered in this obituary in the year of his death, 2014. He was a realistic person, far from surrealism, and quite rational, without fear of death, understood as a natural process and unavoidable. From a young age he was interested in the writers of the Spanish 20th century, such as Pío Baroja, Azorín, Valle-Inclán, among others such as Antonio Machado, and then he distanced himself from religion. Sartre and Josep Pla were also fundamental in influencing him. The author of this obituary comments on all the interviews he did with this important Catalan writer, who received the National Award for Spanish Letters and was always willing to place Hispanic culture above any difference.
