Abstract

The obituary pays tribute to Maryellen Bieder, researcher, teacher and collaborator who was born in 1942 and died in 2018. Maryellen received a bachelor’s degree from Lawrence University with the distinction of America’s most prestigious honorary society Phi Beta Kappa. He got his master’s degree from Indiana University-Bloomington. She became a pioneer in the field of writing Spanish women and published studies on Emilia Pardo Bazán and Concepción Gimeno de Flaquer, as well as articles on Mercè Rodoreda, Carme Riera and Marina Mayoral.
