Abstract

This obituary pays tribute to Nelly Clemessy (1929-2017). She was a French Hispanist who stood out for her pardobazanian work, that is, she felt a passion about the work of Emilia Pardo Bazán. She made numerous scientific contributions and was Professor Emeritus of the Université de Nice. In addition, Nelly Clemessy opened paths, such as that of comparative studies on French naturalism and its projection in Spain, and realized the crucial character of the periodic press as a repository of the narrative work of Pardo Bazán.
