Abstract

This text reviews Repetición de amores, one of the few published books dealing with this sentimental fiction, by Fernando Gómez Redondo. Firstly, it deals with the issue of authorship of the work and its purpose. He treats it as a work addressed to a noble and beautiful woman and analyzes its peculiar structure and its humorous features and implicatures. In addition, on the structure it stops to analyze the similarities between works of the same genre to establish relationships. He also connects it with Arte de Axedrez and proposes that its order be premeditated by the thematic progression between the two. All of Gómez Redondo's notes are very useful for understanding the entire book, due to their implicit messages. Above all, this edition is important for the interest it shows towards Lucena, the author of Repetición de amores, and for the deep analysis of it.
