Abstract

The review highlights Lectura del Buscón by Alfonso Rey, where the picaresque novel by Francisco de Quevedo is analyzed. This book is divided into eleven stages. The first eight focus on the analysis of external elements to the work, while the rest delve into the narrative itself of the novel and all its characteristics. For example, in the first block it focuses on the interpretations of the work, the different editions and publications, Quevedo's attitude towards the text, the picaresque and the present ideologies. Following this, Rey dives into the book and discusses the narrative structure, themes, characters, and influence of the work. It is a study worth reading, honest and very precise.
