Abstract

The reviewed book deals with the Spanish theater in Valladolid in the years of the Civil War, specifically the national theater that was represented in the Calderón Theater of said community. To begin with, it analyzes the theater posters and advertisements that were made at the time, emphasizing the importance of advertising and the art of the posters. Well-verified documents and information are included that help to delve into both the national theater and the culture of that time. Not only were classical, Spanish and international plays presented, but in those years plays were written according to the context and were performed as another way of advertising and encouraging the population of the national sector. This book even includes the reviews that were made of these works, providing data on the newspapers or magazines where they were published.
