This text reviews the book by Amparo de Juan Bolufer and Javier Serrano Alonso, which talks about the candidacy for deputy in the Cortes of the Second Spanish Republic of Ramón Valle-Inclán, the writer, playwright, poet and inventor of the esperpento. Both authors contextualize the time, the political-social situation in Spain and explain this event and how the writer lost his political position for confronting the caciques and the rigging in the elections. Of course, the internal conflicts of the Republicans and the different existing political parties that tried to access power without hesitation are mentioned. The book is very well documented and proof of this are the testimonies and files that its authors investigated and that are mentioned in the work. They also give an account of Valle-Inclán's opinions, which he expressed on various occasions in newspapers and magazines. The clear way in which the electoral chaos of the time is explained is very remarkable, and the appendices and indices are of great help to any type of reader.
