Abstract

This text reviews an anthology of studies and speeches by Marcelino Menéndez Pelayo on other important authors. It is an edition by Mario Crespo López that aims to be respectful of the texts and that always provides a good historical and biographical context to better understand them. The variety of texts from different periods and the philological care of the edition make it of great quality. All of them are duly annotated and the study that precedes them gives an account of interesting facts about Menéndez Pelayo and his work. In short, the set of these studies could be called a History of Spanish Literature.
