Abstract

This publication by Felipe Pedraza is not only a monograph on the playwright Rojas Zorrilla, but a compilation of various topics about the author from the different perspectives of the specialist Pedraza. Therefore, the book contains textual criticism, history, reception of the works, their relationship with music. Despite the fact that some fundamental aspects are hardly mentioned, the writer knows how to handle all these perspectives well and composes his work wonderfully. There are four large sections dealing with humour, style and themes, the context of the texts and the stage reception of the works. Pedraza is understood to have turned his attention to the comedic works of the playwright, something he emphasizes in the conclusion. The variety of themes and perspectives make it possible to extract a deeper and more enriching reading of Rojas Zorrilla thanks to Pedraza's ability.
