This text explains the existence of a story called "Episode", written by Emilia Pardo Bazán. The text recounts the assault on a person inCuba before the North American intervention in the country, in the 19th century. The topic and the presence of Cuba, which has not had a place in other works by the author, draws attention. In it, she enhances and idealizes the Cuban nature, but she realistically captures the cruelty of war events. She comments the causes and consequences of the conflict and some pain is given off by the imminent loss of the overseas colonies. The text was published under her name in the weekly magazine number 41 of Notas, in the Notas de la guerra section.
