In the present work he brings together the epistolary of Benito Pérez Galdós and the translator of Misericordia, Maurice Bixio, which give an account of the process of diffusion of the novel in France, from the conception of the version until its diffusion in book form. Towards the end of the 19th century Benito Pérez Galdós was concerned about the limited presence of his work in France, so he made notable efforts to promote the publication of his translated novels and the representation of his works. Of her numerous attempts, Misericordia was one of the most successful, for purely extraliterary reasons, thanks to the generous help of Bixio, a well-known businessman and lover of Spanish letters. Neither the quality of the translation nor the editing rights worried Galdós. Introducing his work in France was at the time essential for him.
